The village elder’s blessing still echoed in their ears as the Straw Hats trekked deeper inland. The jungle swallowed the path, vines hanging heavy and the air thick with the scent of sandalwood and earth.

In Sanji’s hands, the scroll glowed faintly under the dappled sunlight. Robin read again, her voice calm:

“When the tongue has conquered fire, the hand must conquer steel…”

Her gaze shifted to the looming structure ahead, a colossal stone temple, its walls carved with warriors brandishing swords, their faces stern and lifelike. Each guardian looked as though it could step down from the wall at any moment.

“This must be the place,” Jinbe rumbled. His tone was low, almost reverent. “The Pandya Dynasty trained warrior-priests here. They say the walls themselves come alive to test intruders.”

“Walls coming alive?” Usopp squeaked, clutching his slingshot. “Nope! Nope nope nope, I’m not going in there. Zoro, you go first!”

“Tch. Wasn’t planning on waiting for you, coward,” Zoro muttered, already stepping forward.

The massive temple gates creaked open with an eerie groan. As soon as the crew stepped inside, torches along the walls lit up one by one, without a single hand touching them. Shadows danced wildly.

Then, the stone warriors carved on the walls moved.

“Crap, I knew it!” Usopp wailed, bolting behind Franky.

The guardians stepped out of the stone itself, their ten arms carrying swords, spears, and shields. Their eyes glowed blue, and their movements echoed with metallic screeches.

“Humans who seek the Lotus Path…” a booming voice filled the temple. “…show us your blade. Only one may step forward.”

The guardians’ glowing eyes fixed on Zoro.

“Guess that’s me,” Zoro said, smirking as he drew his three swords with a flourish. The air shimmered with killing intent.

“Zoro, don’t die in there!” Nami yelled.

“He’s gonna get lost before he finds the exit,” Sanji added with a cigarette smirk.

“SHUT UP!” Zoro barked back, charging forward.

The Battle of Illusions

The temple floor shifted, forming a labyrinth of pillars and mirrors. Zoro sprinted in, his sandals striking stone. The guardians moved like shadows, every slash of their blades echoed a hundred times, illusions flooding the maze.

“Tch. Cheap tricks,” Zoro growled. “Santoryu…” He spun, his swords gleaming. “Oni Giri!”

The strike ripped through three guardians, but their broken pieces shimmered and reformed into smoke. Their laughter rattled the walls.

“Not real, huh? Doesn’t matter. I’ll cut through reality itself if I have to.”

He closed his eyes for a moment, sensing the flow of the illusions, the sound of footsteps against stone, the faint shift of wind inside the labyrinth. Then his eyes snapped open, sharp as a hawk.

The guardians charged, blades descending from every direction.

Santoryu: Tora Gari!!

His slash cleaved through the illusions, dispersing them like mist. The labyrinth shuddered. Shadows twisted into one final colossal figure, a warrior twice Zoro’s height, wielding a sword that gleamed with starlight.

Robin’s eyes widened from the temple’s edge. “That sword… it’s inscribed with constellations.”

“The Sword of Starlight,” Jinbe murmured. “The scroll spoke true.”

Zoro grinned, biting down harder on Wado Ichimonji. “Finally, a real fight.”

The colossal warrior roared, its astral blade crashing down like a comet. Zoro met it head-on, his muscles straining, sparks flying in the torchlight.

“Three-Sword Style…” His voice rose with a growl, his haki flaring along his blades. “Purgatory Onigiri!!!

Steel clashed with starlight in a deafening blast. The temple walls shook, dust falling from the ceiling. With one final strike, Zoro cut straight through the colossal guardian, splitting it in two. The pieces dissolved into glowing particles, floating upward like fireflies.

The Reward

When the dust cleared, Zoro stood panting, his swords dripping with energy. The colossal warrior’s broken blade remained, no longer an illusion. It gleamed silver, its hilt engraved with constellations of the night sky.

He picked it up with a grunt. “Hmph. Not bad.”

The torches dimmed, and the booming voice returned:

“The hand has conquered steel. The second step is complete. Follow the starlight… and the Lotus Path shall open.”

The astral blade pulsed once, then projected faint beams of light onto the temple floor, aligning into the shape of a seven-petaled lotus.

Robin’s eyes lit with wonder. “The seven sigils… the map to Kumari Kandam is real.”

Luffy grinned wide, clapping Zoro on the back so hard the swordsman nearly fell. “Good job, Zoro! Now let’s use this sword to find the treasure!!”

Zoro shoved him off, scowling. “Get your own damn weapon.”

Sanji lit another cigarette, exhaling slowly. “Tch. Don’t get cocky, mosshead. Your sword tricks don’t compare to real cooking.”

“Wanna fight, eyebrow freak?!”

As they bickered, Jinbe stared at the glowing lotus with a heavy heart. “The trials are only beginning. The Pandyas left their legacy hidden for a reason. And we’re walking straight into their test.”
